Job Description
Essential job functions: With support, facilitate Super Jardineros (SJ) workshops and activities and provide support with sales and marketing.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:Â
In collaboration with the Shared Garden Program(SGP), recruit participants for the Super Jardineros Program
Communicate via email, phone calls, text messages, or in person, on a monthly basis with SJ Program participants
Schedule and facilitate workshops for SJ participantsÂ
Schedule and conduct monthly check-ins, and quarterly garden visits with participantsÂ
Create and upload training videos to online learning platforms, as needed
In collaboration with the Executive Director, review and update curriculum, lesson plans, and programming Â
Coordinate seedling production with SJ participants following the planting schedule developed for all Valley Verde programsÂ
Provide technical support for Super Jardineros (Planning, Best Practices, IPM, etc)
Coordinate distribution of growing supplies (growing medium, planters, trays, etc)Â
Track and input program data
Evaluate quality seedlings and coordinate sales
In collaboration with the Greenhouse Coordinator plant, transplant, water and organize seedlings for SGP, Sales and other VV eventsÂ
Provide support with seedling sales (online and in person), subscriptions, and marketing material
Represent Valley Verde and develop partnerships within the communityÂ
Create social media content for the Super Jardineros and Greenhouse programs
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications:Â Â
Professional written and verbal skills in Spanish or Vietnamese required. Â
Knowledge of greenhouse growing techniques of organic vegetables.
Must have regular/reliable access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance for transportation.Â
Must be detail oriented and accurately report program attendance and other participant statistics.
Experience working in a multiethnic community environment and having multicultural literacy.
Ability to develop professional relationships with program participants regardless of language barriers, cultural differences, or physical/mental abilities.
Must be extremely organized and have the ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines consistentlyÂ
Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team, show creativity, and ability to initiate and complete projects with limited supervisionÂ
At least 2 years of teaching or group facilitation required Â
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Mailchimp, Google Classroom, Zoom, Google Meet, YouTube, editing videos software, and Canva.Â
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift 30-50 lbs, bend, and twist to complete garden projects and activities.
Experience operating power tools, building, and assembling irrigation systems is a plus.
